Highway managers and the public have no real time information about the effect of construction on traffic flow. The iCone system uses smart cones that transmit information on traffic speed and location to a national, real time database. These cones are simply set out in construction areas and automatically transmit reliable information. This information can be released to navigation services and other travel guides to improve routing of traffic. The system is secure, maintenance-free and always on.
